PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain current maintenance records for all facility material handling equipment, chargers and industrial batteries.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial batteries and chargers, battery changer and material handling equipment.
Complete work orders for all work performed in CMMS system.
Maintain spare parts and supply inventories
Other duties as assigned by Management.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and post repair safety inspections
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
This position requires a high school diploma/GED, related vocational education or equivalent experience. Candidate should have at least 6 months experience servicing forklifts.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving history and have reliable transportation.
Must have the ability to read and write English. Effective and professional communication with all levels required.
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
Experience in material handling equipment maintenance and repair is preferred.
Experience troubleshooting forklifts to include brake, electrical and hydraulic system, defects, potential problems, safety issues and malfunctions is preferred
Electrical experience with 3 phase AC to 480 volts and DC to 50 volts.
Experienced reading equipment manuals, electrical and mechanical drawings.
Welding and cutting torch experience is a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Must have forklift and aerial lift operator’s licenses or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Ability to read interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and equipment manuals.
Work is medium to heavy in nature. The employee must be able to safely lift 50 lbs. - 75 lbs. occasionally. Repair work requires excellent hand and finger dexterity. There may be sufficient noise requiring the employee to shout in order to be heard. You must be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction. Forklift operation requires distance vision. In addition you must be able to perform manual tasks, talk or hear, stand, kneel, sit, reach, bend, communicate and interact with others.
Activities occur both inside (protected from weather conditions but not temperature changes) and outside. Employee is periodically exposed to varying climates with temperature ranges from below zero to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. Some work in refrigerated environments is required. Hazardous conditions exist, such as proximity to and working with industrial chemicals, moving mechanical parts, electrical current and heavy machinery.
Forklift, floor scrubber, and pallet jack. Additional equipment may include scissor lifts, welder, grinder, cutting torch and a variety of hand and power tools.
