Business Development Manager
Business Development Managers will work closely with the Regional and District Sales Managers to identify and target specified accounts to open in a reasonable time frame as agreed upon by both parties. The Business Development Manager will then work in conjunction with the Marketing Associate identified by the DSM to transition the account when such time is appropriate. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for assessing customer potential and monitoring declining sales in order to penetrate and avoid lost business. Business Development Manager will point One Sysco Meetings quarterly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prospecting and cold calling on the top accounts within assigned area.
Assess and take action on account penetration and retention.
Handle all areas of follow-up beginning with assessment of current and potential accounts and contacts with Marketing Associates, Business Development personnel, District Sales Managers, Regional Sales Managers.
Promote the advantages and benefits offered by Sysco.
Provide education to customers regarding services available through Sysco.
Promote added customer loyalty by exhibiting consultant availability and becoming a member of the relationship building team.
Demonstrate, promote and master the resources and skills necessary to assist customers in increasing their profitability and remaining a viable business.
Represent Sysco with professionalism by following all company policies and procedures.

College or culinary education preferred; 3-5 years successful related experience in food service sales environment or in restaurant or hospitality management.
Demonstrated ability to open accounts, penetrate accounts, utilize business resources available, demonstrated ability to support company initiatives, i.e.: Promotions, Market Mover, and Business Reviews.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, business reports; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and appropriate e-mail correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and make good business decisions.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software, spreadsheet software and word processing software and ordering systems.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must have a current driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must carry required automobile insurance (100/300/100).
