Senior SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for designing the structure of new technology systems with primary focus on databases, overseeing the implementation of programs for adherence to proper database architecture, liaising with the rest of the software development team, measuring, enhancing, and improving the performance of database systems, and having a holistic approach when reviewing scope of operational objectives. Provide technical database leadership and support, coordinate project activities, and meet with IT management and key business stakeholders to understand business requirements to ensure technical requirements are aligned.

Essential Functions

  • Manage SQL Server databases

  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes

  • Monitor system's health and performance

  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security

  • Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time

  • Define the back-up and restoration strategy

  • Code writing / review


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field


  • Ten (10) years of experience planning, designing, building, and implementing databases and/or enterprise database architecture systems (Required)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • Cross-functional IT background

  • Ability to examine data and work out how to connect solutions in the most efficient way

  • Ability to demonstrate critical problem-solving skills by troubleshooting for the most effective solution

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in peer group

  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products

  • Good technical knowledge of Cloud technologies

  • Experience in defining and developing high-volume, horizontally scalable web architectures

  • Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices

  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required

  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language

  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail

  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
