Perform inbound and outbound gate check activities for truck and auto traffic for the premises. Operate the Warehouse Management System and Easy Lobby Visitor Management System accordingly to support the gate check activities. Direct all inbound carriers/drivers and visitors to the proper locations at facility. Train and instruct Transportation Operations Associates on proper use of equipment, systems and procedures relative to TOA duties. Perform all duties safely, accurately, and meet set productivity goals.


Sunday - Thursday, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm


  • Train current and new Transportation Operations Associates on WM, TMS, EL and other software/systems to maintain yard location integrity, ensure adherence to established security procedures, and ensure quality of check in/out of visitors, drivers, tractors and trailers.

  • Assist guards and TOAs in resolving system, equipment or procedures related issues as they occur.

  • Provide backup for Transportation Operations Associates and Transportation Supervisors as necessary

  • Communicate to and work effectively with immediate supervisor to identify and resolve any and all issues arising from yard management activities.

  • Inspect inbound and outbound trailers for damage, seal integrity, and reefer unit status.

  • Maintain accurate records of inbound and outbound trailer/driver activities.

  • Oversee dedicated carrier and one-way dispatch process to ensure timely departures.

  • Monitor drop trailer program to ensure all standards and compliance criteria are being met.

  • Properly record, monitor, and direct placement of drop, one-way, and dedicated trailers in and out of the facility.

  • Maintain accurate yard data via the Warehouse Management System.

  • Coordinate inbound rail receipts between railroad and the warehouse.

  • Work effectively with immediate supervisor to improve processes and accuracy, and resolve any issues pertaining to the yard management process.

  • Responsible for the neatness and cleanliness of assigned work area, accuracy of yard locations, and travel lanes.

  • Report any unfixable/unsafe issues to supervisor.

  • Observe and enforce all safety rules in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries.

  • Perform tasks and operate appropriate equipment in a safe and orderly manner in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries.

  • Ensure that guard house equipment is maintained (daily inspection) and clean; report repair or service needs to supervisor in an effort to reduce equipment damage.

  • Ensure guard house computers and RF (radio frequency) equipment are used in a safe and professional manner.

  • Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, Code of Business Conduct & Ethics, Associate Handbook).

  • Comply with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e. OSHA, HACCP, AIB).

  • Perform other yard management duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one year warehouse related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Outlook and Excel) required.


  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations, Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, visitors and outside contractors.


  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


  • Must be detail-oriented, possess emotional stability and objectivity, and the ability to see problems through to completion. Must have good communication skills and be self-motivated. Must also have the ability to prioritize work to ensure timely task completion.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with frequent variables.
