Position Summary:

This is a retail outside sales position in the Minneapolis/ St. Paul area responsible for promoting the company’s products and services and for building relationships with new and existing accounts. The main focus is to help Retail customers succeed utilizing European Imports robust product assortment while achieving sales and profit goals established by the company.

This position occasionally requires working some non-traditional hours (evening, weekends and holidays) in order to successfully meet customers’ needs or remain educated on industry trends

Basic Function & Responsibility:

Under general supervision, sell food and foodservice supplies and assist customers in all aspects of their relationship with European Imports. Responsible for:

  • Sales & GP$ Growth

  • Account Penetration

  • Account Profitability

  • Collections

  • Business Development

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drive personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, company meetings, etc.

  • Sell and process customer orders profitably by developing and achieving sales and profit goals, introducing and demonstrating products and sampling, preparing and implementing sales plans, and maintaining credit and collections of all accounts.

  • Lift/carry laptop computer to and from car, warehouse, customer locations, etc.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by following-up, assisting in solving problems and keeping customers informed of products, services, promotions and food shows.

  • Develop new accounts by maintaining a prospect list, actively calling on prospects, conducting sales presentations and securing the business.

  • Strengthen E.I.’s relationships with customers by seeking opportunities to match our products and services to their needs.

  • Suggest products and services to customers that will enhance their business, provide cost savings, and/or increase revenue and profitability.

  • Promptly attend all company Sales Meetings, Product Exhibitions, Product Seminars, District Meetings, and Company Food Shows, and participate in such events as requested.

  • Maintain proper condition of the Laptop and other company materials and/or equipment.

  • Promptly report competitive activity, potential sales opportunities, and changes in ownership or credit problems to the District Sales Manager.

  • Maintain all required forms and submit these forms within the required time period to the appropriate party (i.e. Itinerary, Credit Application).

  • Conduct all above duties in compliance with E.I.’s guidelines, policies, procedures and CODE OF BUSINESS CONDUCT.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

General working conditions – frequently exposed to adverse conditions 20% or more of time. (Outside environmental conditions, freezer, cooler, cooking areas.)

Supervision Received:

General supervision is received from Sales Manager and Director of Sales

Supervision Exercised:

None.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) or equivalent

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality or Culinary Arts

  • 3 years of sales (preferably specialty foods), and/or chef/restaurant management experience, and/or related (Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality; or Culinary Arts) degree

  • Basic PC skills and proficiency with MS Outlook

  • Reside or willing to relocate to the geographical vicinity of territory

  • Valid driver's license with a "clean" driving record (including: no single DUI in the last 3 years and no multiple DUIs within the last 7 years)

  • Current automobile insurance with the following limits of liability: Bodily injury - $100,000 each person and $300,000 each accident; property damage - $100,000

  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check)

  • Ability to read, write, speak English

  • Sign Sysco Protective Covenants Agreement
