POSITION: Driver Trainer- Class A FLSA STATUS : Non-exempt

DEPARTMENT: Transportation COMPANY : Freshpoint Central California

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Train, coach and review Fresno, Sacramento and Turlock Drivers on a consistent basis.

Delivery of fresh produce and grocery items to our customers. This is a “safety” sensitive position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Employee must pass a road test, background check, pre-employment post offer drug screen and lifting test

  • Maintain a valid commercial drivers license class A

  • Must be able to communicate well with others.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks

  • Pass the minimum hiring requirements

  • Complete “Train the Trainer” as outlined by corporate guidelines.

  • Complete the Smith System driving course

  • Education or experience to fulfill the essential functions and responsibilities with a minimum of 1 year driving experience or equivalent experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Must be able to perform a variety of functions with minimal supervision

  • Train drivers following corporate training manual

  • Deliver product into the customer’s facility and unload to designated areas

  • Verify product to invoice and signature as proof of received delivery. “Dark drop” invoices will be signed by the driver

  • Unload product with a “hand truck” or lift gate via a ramp from cargo area to customer receiving area

  • Remain in compliance with D.O.T. guidelines for route drivers (i.e. participation in random drug/alcohol testing, DMV driving record pull notice)

  • Follow the Follow Preferred Work Methods

  • Route coverage as needed

  • Perform Dark Drop Audits

  • Assist in analyzing and identifying route efficiencies and improvements

  • Other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be available 7 days per week

  • Work day could be up to 16 hours in length; work week will be up to 70 hrs in 8 days

  • End time is when work is done (route, backhauls, paperwork, and same day deliveries completed)

  • Routes and schedules could change daily/weekly

  • Uniform required
