THE POSITION:

This is an Operations position responsible for the daily routing function with the goal of consistent, on time delivery in the most cost effective manner possible and responsible for maintaining the efficiency of the delivery routes, i.e., mileage, caseload, weight and driver overtime.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations.

  • Experience utilizing AS 400 software and on-board data collection systems.

  • Strong written, math and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Windows operations system and utilizing Excel and Word.

Essential Duties:

  • Builds daily load/route to maximize customer service, efficiency, manpower and equipment.

  • Communicates daily with customer service, warehouse and sales personal to achieve company goals related to routing/transportation.

  • Responsible for update and maintenance of AS 400 standard routes and sites.

  • Reviews department performance reports including E-log data to monitor routing efficiency and accuracy.

  • Daily assignment of delivery equipment to customer routes.

  • Daily manpower scheduling to insure route coverage.

  • Communicates routing issues to sales department relative to customer service. Facilitates resolution as it pertains to routing.

  • Facilitates timely resolution of daily delivery issues.

  • Analyzes, identifies and proposes actions in an effort to increase the effectiveness of the Operations Department.

  • Provides environment to successfully obtain safety, productivity and accuracy goals.

  • Ensures compliance with all D.O.T. and state transportation regulations.

  • Meets routinely with all levels of sales to review service situations and to obtain goals set by both the Transportation and Sales Departments.

  • Interacts with drivers to maximize their ABC opportunities and correct any routing shortcomings.

  • Makes provisions for new business that satisfies the customer, transportation and sales.

  • Identifies customer’s primary delivery days and utilize reports to set goals on how to keep customers on their specific delivery days.

  • Maintains the communications and networking of all transportation systems to optimize the reporting and performances of each system and as a whole ( AS 400 and XRS).

  • Interacts with Warehouse supervision on issues that relates to them.

  • Performs all duties as required.

Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma.

Preferred Requirements:

  • College degree.

  • 3 years distribution/transportation experience in high volume, route delivery operation.
