The Communications Manager will set and guide the strategy and structure for all communications and public relations messages. This individual will work across marketing teams to help ensure that the organization continues to be viewed as a global leader in the industry by helping aggregate content, craft any strategic position messaging and manage the approval process and distribution of information.
The Communications Manager will work closely with senior leadership within the organization as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives for both internal and external audiences by implementing strategies to enhance the organization’s image. This includes establishing relationships with members of the media, generating positive publicity by pitching stories to media outlets, helping manage social media efforts, identifying key messages and communicating them to employees, partners and customers while facilitating approvals appropriately. Specific tactical efforts will include branding or public relations opportunities, crisis management, speech writing, press releases, newsletters and executive presentations and validation of any copy writing done within key marketing channels. This role will also be a content and communication partner for the company messaging provided throughout corporate town hall meetings. This role will also be primary conduit to partner with Sysco Corporate communications team to ensure any efforts are on strategy and follow proper approval processes as part of overall communication policies.
Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across the organizations internal (i.e. corporate communications, program or product launches, etc.) and external network (i.e. trade media, supplier partners, etc.).
Aggregate the generation of content that engages various audiences and leads to measurable action (i.e. decide who, where, and when to disseminate).
Manage the development, promotion, distribution, and maintenance of any communication process or workflow including any print or electronic announcements, newsletters, point of view brochures, holiday messaging and leadership announcements, writing speech and press releases, promoting special events, coordinating town hall communication content, scheduling interviews for President and other key senior leadership team members (SLT) and giving interviews on behalf of the organization as required, etc.
Coordinate any corporate communication maintenance (i.e. intranet portal, Sysco corporate business unit information, etc.) to ensure information is consistent and relevant (i.e. press releases, company overview, article links, stories, and events) while also coordinating and organizing internal company or external industry meeting content to ensure proper messaging can be packaged and distributed for greater organization awareness.
Validate the grammar and effectiveness of any copy writing done across key marketing channels.
Manage all press or media contacts and inquiries for company with necessary Sysco Corporate involvement.

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or similar area of study.
Master’s degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of related communications experience.
Ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting/useful messages and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and professional interactive skills are necessary to perform at a high degree of proficiency
Strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing variety of key initiatives concurrently
Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence"
High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability and sincere commitment to work collaboratively across organization to serve as a unifying force helping to position communication at both the strategic and tactical levels
Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial
Comfortable challenging the organization to help lead and create the overall capability within the organization by implementing new standards, process, workflow and launching of initiatives
Goal-oriented and driven self-starter who can work independently within a team environment and strive to be the best
Ability to effectively present information and respond to management and inter-departmental staff in a timely manner
