JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President of Global Distribution Operations is responsible for all aspects of long-range strategic planning for the Company's Distribution Centers, Re-Distribution Centers, and third-party logistics providers (3PL's) domestic and internationally, incorporating the latest software and technology for the management of warehouse services, inventory, transportation and logistics in support of the Company's strategic, operational and annual growth plans.

This role will develop and monitor a dashboard of key performance metrics measuring all aspects of its high-traffic and fast-moving operations to optimize efficiencies and ensure on-time and on-target performance of the distribution and transportation operations. In addition, this role will hire (as needed), develop and lead a team of global leaders to ensure the day-to-day effective management of the facilities and other related operations.

General areas of responsibility include strategic planning, financial planning, warehouse layout and utilization, systems integration and design, transportation, for inbound and outbound logistics planning and output, personnel development and leadership, executive communications and information flow to subordinate leaders, performance metrics, facility security and maintenance, freight management, and budget management

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set overall strategy for multiple Distribution Centers (company leased and 3PL's) domestic and internationally; develop and implement specific short- and long-term plans and programs in order to support the operational goals and annual growth plans. Oversee the development and implementation of strategies, including but not limited to performance metrics; technology, systems, equipment and facilities; continuous improvements evaluation, logistics planning and output; policies & procedures; organizational development, workforce planning and training efforts.

  • Manage relationships with key business partners, including internal stakeholders, owned & integrated system developers, parcel and freight carriers, 3PL providers and retail sale partners.

  • Closely partner with manufacturing, supply chain, sales and procurement/operations planning in order to ensure consistent and smooth inbound and outbound operations.

  • Partner with Marketing, Customer Experience and technology organizations in order to leverage distribution performance as a competitive tool.

  • Provide leadership and direction to achieve best in class safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.

  • Develop Transportation short- and long-term strategies with global partners to handle current and future business requirements to internal and external customers.

  • Analyze growth of operating company against each Distribution Center's facility size and location to accommodate and maintain proper storage, receiving, and shipping capabilities for present and future business. Recommend and implement changes as needed.

  • Responsible for the P&L of all Distribution Center locations; oversee the development of annual budgets to ensure facilities are executed to minimize expenses. Review performance metrics against operating plans and standards; provide reports to direct reports on interpretation of results and provide direction to address issues. Diagnose operational issues and assist Managers in the development of solutions, action plans and communication to resolve issues.

  • Ensure that all Distribution Centers are in compliance with local, regional, and federal laws and required documentation.

  • Proactively manage safety; immediately respond to any concerns and conduct proper follow up to ensure the issue was addressed.

  • Direct planning and development of Distribution Operations team and establishment of goals for their performance. Monitor, evaluate and provide feedback to managers on progress towards goals. Coach and develop management in balancing the delivery of high productivity, quality and customer service. Counsel and direct management on handling employee relations, staffing, disciplinary actions and maintaining a positive work environment. Conduct regular department meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea sharing and suggestions for improvement. Participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessary. Promote continuous training and development of associates. Lead and facilitate change management in support of organizational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in Business Management, Logistics Management or Supply Chain. MBA a plus.

Experience

  • 15 years' distribution, supply chain, transportation, and logistics experience, including operational management required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Global Management of multiple Distribution Centers and 3PL's preferred.

  • Global Operational experiences in Europe, Asia preferred.

  • Global Transportation Governance (i.e., in USA DOT and OSHA) knowledge required.

  • Working Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies

Physical Demand & Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • While this position will primarily work in an office environment, this position requires frequent travel (approx. 50%) to and from customer locations, staff meetings, company events, training sessions, and key customer tradeshows that may require standing for long periods of time. Must possess a valid passport for international travel, as needed.

  • May be required to utilize personal vehicle for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting.

  • If working remote, must have required software to ensure timely communications and have a dedicated workspace free of any distractions and participate in customer or conference calls in a business-friendly environment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • This position may require evening and weekend work depending on business needs.
