The Director of Finance is primarily focused on applying principles of accounting to prepare company financial records and statements. The Director of Finance is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, analysis of various financial data, reviewing and adjusting(when necessary) financial statements/balance sheets, preparing management financial reports, overseeing the budgeting process and forecasting financial data and other finance-related tasks.
Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements, balance sheets and reports (i.e., that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures. Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
Coordinate and monitor comprehensive audits of internal company operations and controls to ensure regulatory compliance with applicable government laws (i.e., Sarbanes Oxley Act).
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that financial information is secure.
Liaise with the Executive Management and Sysco Corporate Finance Department Committee as appropriate.
Coordinate and lead monthly financial review meetings with Executive Management and other leadership associates.
Oversee and establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepare the annual budget and profit plan in consultation with the Executive Management locally and with Sysco Corporate Finance.
Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties. Update forecasts monthly internally and into the Sysco forecasting tool (BPC).
Provide analysis and narratives for variances to Plan and Prior Year.
Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting.
Review, approve and post domestic journal entries to the General Ledger. Review and approval of all vouchers >$5,000 that are non-inventory related.
Work with senior teams to grow the business, formulating strategies, etc. Contribute to the development of company strategies across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets, and business drivers.
Develop and oversee bonus calculations for all areas of the business and set accrual targets for future bonus payouts.
Work on other ad-hoc projects requested by executive management and other leadership positions.
Monitor day to day operations of the Finance Department. Direct planning and development of the team and the establishment of goals for their performance.
Monitor, evaluate and provide feedback to managers on progress towards goals.
Coach and develop management in balancing the delivery of high productivity, quality and customer service.
Counsel and direct management on handling employee relations, staffing, disciplinary actions and maintaining a positive work environment.
Conduct regular department meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea-sharing and suggestions for improvement. Participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessary. Promote continuous training and development of associates.
Lead and facilitate change management in support of organizational goals.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
MBA and CPA preferred.
Minimum of 7-10 years related experience, including U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and management experience.
+10 yrs. experience, including GAAP and management experience, preferred.

Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and professional interactive skills, as well as strong presentation, negotiation, time management and organizational skills. Able to communicate financial data to non-finance people.
Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically and influence business decisions using appropriate, fact-based financial information.
Well-developed strategic planning, business, and financial management skills (i.e., pricing, forecasting, budget planning, financial analysis, etc.).
A mastery of organizational and project management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple initiatives/deadlines autonomously and shift priorities as necessary. Able to manage large, complex projects. Uses time effectively.
Demonstrates excellent subject matter knowledge of and experience with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley Act and ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs and/or equivalent products.
Ability to work in a disciplined, consistent, timely and objective manner and capable of following established policies, procedures and practices. Complies with local, state and federal regulations.
Ability to travel and interact successfully with a geographically diverse team.
Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook) – SAP and PeopleSoft experience preferred.
Familiarity with PeopleSoft and other ERP systems preferred.

If working remote, must have required software to ensure timely communications and have a dedicated workspace free of any distractions and participate in customer or conference calls in a business-friendly environment.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This position may require evening and weekend work depending on business needs.
